For ancient Greeks, the island was sacred to Hephaestus, god of metallurgy and fire, who fell on Limnos when Zeus threw him out of Olympus.

Floating in the north Aegean Sea, Limnos is a destination for peaceful holiday closed with nature. Sheltered gulfs, extensive beaches and landscapes of volcanic rocks, alternate with small hills and traditional villages of stone houses.


The principal town of the island (also the main harbor) is Myrina. It is dominated by the Byzantine castle.There are many stores and narrow streets, yet it is not too crowded.


The second biggest town 27 km east of Myrina. Also the second most important port of Limnos and one of the safest anchorages of the Aegean. The bay of Moudros is one of the largest natural harbors of the Mediterranean.

Platis beach 1 mile south of Myrina, one of the best organized beaches of Lemnos, with fish taverns, cafeterias and many watersports centers.


Thanos beach: 2 miles south of Myrina. Long beach with soft sand and clean water. A part of this beach is organized with sunbeds and umbrellas.

Endless beach with soft white sand, distinguished for its natural beauty. It is located 18 miles east of Myrina. Keros is a turquoise slice of paradise and an ideal place for various water sports, like windsurfing and kite surfing.



11 miles from Myrina.Gomati is a beautiful beach on the northern part of the island. It is remote and quiet, perfect for a relaxing afternoon. It is covered in golden sand and has turquoise waters.

Makris Gialos

Makris Gialos is a huge beach located right next to the archaeological site of Poliochni. Its large coast is covered in thick golden sand and the waters are emerland.


A perfect beach located on the southeastern bay of the island. It is covered in sand and small peebles and has emerald waters. Many ancient remains have been found there.

Riha Nera

Riha Nera

Riha Nera (meaning shallow waters in Greek) is the most cosmopolitan beach on the island and is perfect for all ages. For the lovers of  watersports activities, the beach offers a wide variety of those as well as a beach bar. The beach is ideal for children.
